About Reconciliation WA

A better future for all Western Australians

Reconciliation WA (RWA) is a not-for-profit organisation providing leadership, advocacy and support to people and organisations driving the reconciliation movement in Western Australia.

Our vision is a better future for our state, one that celebrates strong and positive relationships and outcomes between Aboriginal Peoples and the wider Western Australian community. Through education, support and our reconciliation programs, we focus on the creation of social and economic outcomes to ensure the cultures, rights and contributions of Aboriginal peoples are valued and respected.

As the peak body for reconciliation in WA, we also work with our state and territory reconciliation colleagues and Reconciliation Australia to support, promote and lead national reconciliation initiatives.

Nolan Hunter

Aboriginal Co-Chair

Nolan Hunter is the Ex-CEO of the Kimberley Land Council – a not-for-profit Native title rep body (NTRB). Nolan has ties to his people through Bardi and Yawuru native title across saltwater country in the Kimberley Northern Western Australia.His experience span thirty years of Strategic Operational Management and Governance, including directorship of several Indigenous organisations in the Kimberley, including Goolari Aboriginal Media, Mamabulanjin Aboriginal Corporation, and current Board Member of Kimberley Land Council.

Nolan brings passion on advocacy to issues of Indigenous and human rights, cultural maintenance through land management, development of future economic and social opportunities. He has engaged on several national, international, and domestic forums talking to Indigenous economic development, the empowerment agenda, International Community events, and Climate forums on Indigenous land management modelling.

Nolan was Co-Convenor at the Dialogues for Pilbara and Kimberely facilitated by Referendum Council’s second dialogue, and previous Director Uphold & Recognise on Constitutional recognition. Nolan's current role is  Head of Engagement Uluru Dialogue through UNSW Indigenous, Indigenous Rights Lead with Amnesty International and Advisory Panel Member to Minister Hon. Sussan Ley MP Minister for the Environment.

Debra Zanella

Non-Aboriginal Co-Chair

Debra has been a leader in the health and community services sector for well over 20 years driving innovation in service delivery and policy reform, in Housing and Homelessness, Family Violence, Mental Health, AOD and Community Legal Services.

Debra has led impact collaborations, most notably in the work of ending homelessness and made significant contributions to the Government’s long-term policy initiatives including its 10- year Strategy.

She has served on the Board of numerous WA Peak Bodies and is currently a Director, State Training Board, Ministerial Housing First Homelessness Advisory Group, and the Australian Alliance to End Homelessness.

Debra has led the deepening maturity of Ruah as a culturally sensitive and safe place through our Stretch RAP and Aboriginal leadership at Board, Executive and Senior Aboriginal leaders. Ruah is a member of Social Reinvestment WA.

Carolyn Davis

Board Member

Carolyn is a proud Noongar woman of the Minang descent. Carolyn gained a Bachelor of Social Science (Indigenous Services) from Edith Cowan University and holds Masters of Public Policy from Murdoch University. Carolyn commenced work in the public sector in 2005 and has worked across several government agencies including the Department of the Attorney General, Commissioner for Children and Young People, Disability Services Commission and Department of Training and Workforce Development as the Manager of Aboriginal Workforce Development Centre Perth.

Since February 2018, Carolyn has worked with the Department of Justice (DoJ) as the Principal Aboriginal Workforce Development Officer, in the Aboriginal Workforce Development Unit and holds responsibility for the Aboriginal Employment Portfolio at the Department.

Carolyn brings to the Board of Reconciliation WA a focus and commitment on making a meaningful and lasting difference to the lives of Aboriginal people across this state, 15 years of Public Service and the drive to realise Reconciliation WA’s Vision ‘to create a better future for our State; built on respectful relationships which foster social, cultural and economic opportunities for First Peoples and the broader Western Australian community.’

Rohan Collard

Rohan Collard is a Ballardong Wadjuk man with strong community connections to the Nyungar nation.  Rohan holds a respected position of cultural authority and knowledge in the Aboriginal community. Rohan and his family have strong connections in driving Reconciliation for many years, which Rohan’s hold’s deep in his koort.

Rohan is an Aboriginal Business owner of Dooga Waalitj Healing, a Senior Executive for Palmerston and holds a tertiary level qualification with a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Human Services. Rohan has extensive experience in working in the Public Sector, Community Sector and the Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation sector in Senior Executive roles over the last 20 years and has extensive strategic leadership experience and high-level consultancy skills with a focus and impact on and service delivery for Aboriginal people. Rohan is a current board of Director for Yokai, Chairperson of Karla Kuliny Aboriginal Corporation and co-chair of Noongar Safety and Wellbeing Council.

Rohan has demonstrated experience in building strong professional networks with key not for profit agencies, government, and community which has included his ability to successfully develop and maintain strong relationships with Elders, Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations. Rohan is committed to improving the outcomes of Aboriginal people and community to be solid and strong.

Meg O’Neill

Board Member

Meg O’Neill has 27 years’ experience in the global oil and gas industry, working in the USA, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Having joined the company in May 2018, Meg was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Woodside on 17 August 2021.

Meg joined Woodside as Chief Operations Officer, responsible for Woodside’s producing facilities, and supporting production, logistics, dri lling, HSEQ and reservoir management activities. In October 2019, Meg became Executive Vice President Development which encompasses the delivery of all of Woodside’s major projects, and in August 2020 Meg also assumed responsibility for Marketing.

Meg is a passionate reconciliation advocate and was the executive sponsor of Woodside’s Reconciliation Community from October 2018 – September 2021. Under Meg’s leadership, Woodside has publicly supported the Uluru Statement From The Heart, encouraged knowledge building and discussion about Black Lives Matter and supported the Murujuga World Heritage List nomination on the basis of co-existence. Meg is committed to advancing reconciliation, especially in the areas of truth telling, cultural safety and Indigenous economic empowerment through business, contracting, employment and training opportunities.

Kyra Galante

Kyra Galante is a Guburn (Kupurn) woman from the Goldfields region of WA, with Noongar connections.

She has over 20 years’ experience delivering Indigenous community engagement, recruitment and mentoring strategies in the resources industry. As Worley Australia’s First Nations Participation Director she focusses on fostering positive business partnerships between First Nations companies and Worley Australia.

Kyra guides Worley to facilitate the energy transition’s alignment with Indigenous cultural values to protect land, water and heritage. This year Kyra graduated with a Masters of Indigenous Business Leadership from Monash University.

Kyra’s recent role is being the WA ambassador for Yes 23 campaign for the ‘Voice to Parliament’.

Helen Sadler

Helen is a doctor, working in General Practice. She is the Deputy Mayor of the Town of Cottesloe and sits on the State Council of the WA Local Government Association. She has used these roles to advance indigenous reconciliation and other social justice issues. .

Helen is a Australian-New Zealander, having lived half of her life in each country. Experiencing New Zealand’s advances in reconciliation further inspire her to commit her energy to reconciliation in WA.

Helen has strong relationships with and knowledge of the local government and medical sectors. She intends to use her leadership and governance skills together with her positive and open operational style to advance reconciliation.
